Pretty amazing in these tough times how many sales people are calling me. I am a 1 man outfit and I just cannot believe how many calls a day I am getting. What really gets my shorts in a knot is the fact that 85 % of these callers have never had the time of day for me in the good times. Many told me that I just did not have the volume of orders to purchase from their companies. I find it ironic that all of a sudden now i could be a valued customer to them with my small insignificant orders. For the most part I have just told them that I will continue to stay with the guys who have been with me over the past 30 years through good times and bad. Nothing wrong with sourcing and pricing from others I suppose but my main concern it that when times get better( and they will) what will happen to me then. I suppose I am set in my ways in many aspects but for me i don't care if a customer is super rich or just average. I have made it a policy to treat them all with respect and courtesy and would of hoped that all my "new" best friends in the woodworking sales side of the industry would of done the same for m regardless of the order size. The people that I buy material from have always valued my buisness and for me thats something you can bank on. Just the ravings of a cranky old guy.
