Sawdust Soup

Thanks to David for launching this group! I figured I'd try to kickstart discussion with the obvious question that has no obvious answer: What's your best idea for successfully marketing in this down economy?

Awesome ideas, John! Thanks. Funny how these things work- a friend of mine found and sent the link to a free publication: cabinetmakerfdm and while I was looking at it, stumbled onto the link for sawdustsoup!
I've gotten more marketing ideas (and a lot cheaper) in the last two days from you folks than all that 'expert' advice from the magazine people asking for my credit card number.
I had thought about the youtube idea, and have been jotting down ideas for a video. I really like your idea of someone following me down the road with a camcorder (in the snow too!).
Thanks again.
Lloyd

Hi Guys, You have out some good ideas out there. I have had success with using online lead service from "Service Magic". I have found most of the leads to be real customers how have a good idea of what they want and what should be paid. The leads have given me many jobs the last year or so. I get 50% or more of the leads and you can really dial in just the work you want and in the areas you want. There is a start up cost (around $100 I think) and then a small charge per lead and you can set a spending limit. I live in the Portland Or area and it has worked for me.
