Trade Mark Drafting Comment by Trade Mark Drafting on July 27, 2010 at 7:13am
Glad to be here. We are a drafting firm ... specializing in casework / millwork shop drawings. Currently we use AutoCAD '08, Microvellum 6 & 67.

You could spend thousands of dollars on programs like CabinetWare, Cabnet Vision, KCD etc.. or you could visit Thermwood's ECabinet Systems website (www.ecabinetsystems.com) and request a free copy. It can accomplish all of the tasks you've listed and more. Plus, it's 100% free. No strings attached.

There are plenty of options. CabinetWare and Cabnet Vision are probably two of the most common in mid size shops and up. Are you looking to buy your doors in or build those as well. How custom are you looking to be? You can also create a spreadsheet with macros to generate lists using parametrics.

Hi, I'm a cabinetmaker looking for the right software to do prints and color 3D pictures, something simple that I can figure out on my own. I'm a 1-man shop and have no use for the CNC compatible programs, just basically need design software made for cabinets, anyone have any recommendations?

I am working with a large commercial design, build company right now and part of my job scope is to integrate Tradesoft (ShopPAC ProjectPAC) into the company. I have already set-up the the new Week NBM CNC and we already have the Beam saw and P2P operating. We design with AutoCAD and Pytha. Both very complex programs for the average shop and NEED qualified operators or you are dead in the water. Tradesoft software is very good but has a huge learning curve with some limitations but its strong point is its estimating module. Our estimator has been using it now for afew months and he loves it.

huh... so which one(s) is the best for the money for: estimating, shop drawings, & sending to CNC?

and then there is Alliance Millsoft, Tradesoft, ETemplate Digital Measuring, Keytrix, People Logic, Prime Estimating, and Tractivity; not to mention the project management packages like SharedPlan Pro, FastTrack Schedule, and MS Project.

We use Autodesk Revit and Aspire.

We're not normal.
