I would recommend a couple things. I would use a product call MEDEX. It is a moisture resistence MDF. I would seal the cup hinge bore with a sealer before inserting the hinge. If using the MEDEX may also solve your edge band problem. Good Luck"

MDF and humidity is not a great combination. If you have ever opened a dishwasher door after the cycles have finished you get a cloud of steam billowing out of the washer. They make steam and lots of it when the drying cycle is engaged.…"
