Big dogs feeling the housing crunch

American Woodmark, the third-largest U.S. cabinet maker is cutting production and closing two facilities. The cabinetmaker is closing two production plants in Moorefield, W. Va., and Berryville, Va., according to the Washington Business Journal.
The cabinetmaker is also idling a plant in Tahlequah, Okla, until the housing market improves.

Cabinet maker fined $1.3M for air violations

Century Cabinetry Inc. has been ordered to pay $1.3 million in civil penalties for air quality violations, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
“Century operated an automated spray finishing unit for many years without the required air quality permit,” said DEP Southeast Regional Director Joseph A. Feola in written statement.
