We went from mostly panel saw (Schelling) & CNC part detailing to mostly nested on a Komo. If you count handling time and accuracy the nested setup is better. The router allows the operator a little time for sorting, labeling and moving things down…

Buying the wrong machine for the intended work, finding out that there are other things you should have considered other than the "intended" work. (In my case, I'd sure like to have a C-axis) If most of your work is panel processing, nesting is a gr…

I’d advise caution on this. Even with a router you will still be at a disadvantage to the larger shop. Try not to go head to head with them. Run the numbers very conservatively. We are a slightly larger shop; we’ve had routers for 12 years or so, gr…

I think I'd rather have a SawStop. Actually I retired my 6 or 8 year old Unisaw and installed a new SawStop for the safeth. Turns out it is a very well thought out saw.

I'd have to vote for a good slider. They are very versatile, capable of accurate cuts from perfect square to 10' compound miters. We often use ours with jigs clamped to the sliding table to do repetitive odd cuts on difficult to hold parts. I'd opt…

I replaced a 6 year old Unisaw with a new SawStop 2 years ago. Well made saw. I've never been in a shop that had a Unisaw with the blade guard in place and couldn't keep one on here either. It seems like the extra $ for the safety was a no brainer.

Welcome Larry. I hope you will join us in the Lean Mfg group. I've done some work in the store fixture segment of our industry. Maybe you have some questions we can discuss or success stories you can share.
