An important part of the manufacturing process is the grinding machines on which our tooling is made. I can remember the purchase of our first CNC grinder in the early ‘90s; this new computer-controlled piece of equipment seemed to work by some sort of “magic” that we didn’t completely understand. Solid carbide router bits break for a lot of reasons. Part of my job here at Vortex is to examine broken tools and “explain” why they broke. Most of the time it’s a fairly obvious explanation but some of the time the answer is somewhat elusive.
