USDA action could divert wood products to fuel

The USDA's Biomass Crop Assistance Program could take wood products away from the wood industry and give it to the biomass fuel industry to burn as fuel. Taxpayers could be on the hook for a $500 million subsidy to make this happen, according to a communication from Tom Julia at the Composite Panel Assn., www.pbmdf.com. We will plan coverage on this subject in the magazine and web site.

That may be the case in other cities as well. I won't bring my biomass to Portland.

Humm. In the PortlandOr/VancoverWa area for the past 3 days it was a hundred plus dollar ticket to burn wood in even certified wood stoves unless the stove was the sole source of heat. Politics as usual.
